Defeet’s Wooleator and Woolie Boolie are excellent wool cycling socks, meant to be used in shoulder season and deep winter, respectively.
Castelli’s Denali X-Lite is a super-lightweight, no-frills, and totally waterproof cycling jacket ready for training or commuting. Waterproof jackets are notorious for not being breathable, but the Castelli is about as cutting edge in that department as possible. This jacket is waterproof enough to easily expose the lack of waterproofness in the rest of my kit when I arrive to work totally dry around the chest but wet everywhere else. It is also certainly more breathable than my “waterproof” Eider running jacket, and it gives my Pearl Izumi water-resistant jacket a run for its money.
